Lawrence R. Sykes, Esq., is a seasoned attorney who has established a profound career in the legal field, spanning over three decades. Practicing in litigation, real estate, and municipal law, Mr. Sykes brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and unwavering commitment to his practice.

Mr. Sykes is a proud graduate of Union College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He went on to achieve his Juris Doctor degree from the highly respected Case Western Reserve University Law School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1974.

Soon after, Mr. Sykes launched his legal career in the public sector as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York. He made significant strides in prosecuting businesses and individuals involved in deceptive business practices in the Bureau of Consumer Fraud and Protection from 1974 to 1979.

His remarkable journey continued as he served as an Assistant Westchester County Attorney between 1979 and 1981. His roles included litigating family court and civil service law matters, as well as providing counsel for various county departments and agencies.

From 1987 to 1991, Mr. Sykes held the position of Hearing Officer at the Yonkers Parking Violations Bureau. During this time, he conducted hearings and made decisions on parking violation cases, demonstrating his keen ability to analyze issues of fact and law meticulously.

His diverse experience in municipal law expanded when he served as the General Counsel for the Yonkers Parking Authority from 1991 to 1995. Here, he handled a wide range of legal matters, including those related to personnel, real estate, and risk management.

In 1998, Mr. Sykes took on the role of Director of Special Projects for the Yonkers Office of Economic Development. In this capacity, he fostered partnerships with private developers to remediate and develop properties for commercial and residential use.

From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Sykes was the Director of Park Economic Development at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation. He oversaw the planning, designing, and execution of various projects within the park.

In 2016, Mr. Sykes accepted the role of General Counsel for the Yonkers Community Development Agency, a position he still holds today. His responsibilities include handling real estate transactions, drafting legal documents, conducting litigation, and offering legal counsel to the Board of Directors.

Simultaneously, since 2018, Mr. Sykes has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Westchester County Taxi & Limousine Commission, where he adjudicates charges filed against drivers and owners of for-hire vehicles.
